El tallo puede llegar a medir hasta 30cm de di\u00e1metro. Posee una copa densa, en forma globosa y follaje extendido de m\u00e1s de 10m de di\u00e1metro. Fruto rojo con c\u00e1scara de espinas suaves.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Usos:<\/strong> Semillas comestibles como especia y colorante rojo de alimentos. Se le atribuyen adem\u00e1s propiedades terap\u00e9uticas antiinflamatorias y antioxidantes. El \u00e1rbol aporta de nutrientes y biomasa al suelo.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clima:<\/strong> Tropical h\u00famedo y subtropical, aunque tambi\u00e9n soporta climas templados.
